Unpacking a ₹1000 Investment: My Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund - A truly flexi approach!

Hello Community,

With thousands of financial products in the market, have you (like me?) ever zeroed in your favourite fund and then wondered exactly where your money goes?

As a hands-on investor who started in July'2024, I believe in understanding the inner workings of a fund holds the key. That’s why I recently took a close look at the Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund (PPFCF) (India's favourite flexi cap 😍) factsheet from the end of July 2025. I was curious to see how a simple ₹1000 investment is diversified across different sectors and geographies. (Source: PPFAS Mutual Fund :: Monthly Factsheet)

The results are fascinating. The chart below, based on the fund's official factsheet as off 31st July 2025, shows a clear and well-thought-out allocation.

& here is the tabular break down at a broad level of how your ₹1000 is invested by PPFAS as on 31st July 2025

As you can see, a significant portion of the ₹1000—₹119, to be exact—is invested in Global Equities e.g. META. This is a unique and powerful feature of this fund, providing access to international companies and reducing concentration risk in the Indian market.

The remaining balance is strategically placed in a diverse mix of Indian equities and other assets. The top domestic holdings for our ₹1000 investment include:

  • ₹80 in a leading private bank, HDFC Bank Limited.

  • ₹66 in Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited.

  • ₹59 in Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.

  • ₹54 in Coal India Limited.

And here’s a crucial point: a large portion of the fund, ₹384, is categorized as "Others." This includes assets like arbitrage, T-bills, and liquid investments. This cash-like position is not a sign of poor management; rather, it's a strategic move that provides liquidity and helps the fund navigate volatile market conditions.

This simple breakdown shows how PPFCF’s flexi-cap mandate works in practice, offering exposure to diverse sectors, international markets, and a disciplined approach to cash management. It's a great example of the power of diversification in a single fund.

Hope you had a great read and got something out of the article. 😊
